 Dr. Wertheimer practices Functional Medicine - a dynamic approach to assessing, preventing and treating complex chronic disease. His passion for practice is fueled by his belief that nutrient dense eating combined with aggressive reduction in exposure to environmental toxins, treatment of food sensitivites and appropriate use of supplements alters the way our genetics are manifest and leads to optimal function and healing of the human body. Dr. Wertheimer’s many career acheivements include a term on the Florida Board of Medicine and three years as Chief Medical Officer of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Dr. Wertheimer is a graduate of Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and has been honored with fellowship in many prestigious organizations including the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, the Society for Cardiac Angiography, the American Heart Association Council on Clinical Cardiology, and the American College of Angiology. He is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine, American Society of Clinical Nutrition and was a founding member of the Council on Geriatric Cardiology. Dr. Wertheimer lives in New Jersey with his wife Elena and his daughters Bianca and Carina.
